- DirectXDirectX is Microsoft's set of programming interfaces that Windows games use to work with the graphics card and other hardware; games list the version they need in their system requirements.
- DLCDLC, or downloadable content, is extra content for a game you already own, such as an expansion, new levels or characters, that installs on top of the base game and cannot be played without it.

- Patch notesPatch notes are the list a developer publishes with a game update, describing what changed: fixes, balance changes, new content and known problems.
- Pre-orderA pre-order is a purchase of a game before its release date, often with bonus items, which you can usually cancel up to a point set by the store.
- ProtonProton is Valve's compatibility layer that lets Windows games run on Steam Deck and other SteamOS devices without the developer making a native version.

- Season passA season pass is an add-on bundle for one game that you buy in advance and that includes downloadable content already out plus content the publisher will release later.
- Steam WalletThe Steam Wallet is the stored balance on a Steam account, topped up with money or gift cards and spent on the Steam store, which cannot be moved to another account or withdrawn.
