Xbox has started testing Mythic Achievements, a mark for players who complete every achievement in a game. Members of the Xbox Insider program can try it from September 29, 2026, Microsoft announced on Xbox Wire, calling it one of the features players have asked for most.
How a game becomes Mythic
A game counts as Mythic once you have unlocked all of its original achievements. Achievements added later by DLC or updates are not required, and Xbox says they are now clearly tagged as “add-on” so you can tell them apart.
Mythic status is applied retroactively. Games you have already completed qualify automatically, including Xbox 360 titles, according to the post.
Where it shows up
- Completed games get a distinct “heroic” frame in your achievement history.
- A progress bar shows how close you are to Mythic in each game, visible in the Guide and in a game’s achievement details.
- Profiles gain a Gaming tab with your achievements and badges for Gamerscore milestones.
- You can open a friend’s Gaming tab to see what they have completed and which of their games are Mythic.
Who can use it now
For now, Mythic Achievements are part of the Xbox Insider preview. The post, by senior product manager Alex Charters and principal software engineering lead Eden Marie, does not say which Insider rings receive the feature first or when it will reach all players. Anyone can join the Insider program through the Xbox Insider Hub app, available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC.
Preview features can change before a general release, so the details above may differ when Mythic Achievements reach everyone.
